Educational Programmes for Brighter Futures

At our company, we are unwavering in our commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our host communities through impactful health and education initiatives. Our dedication is evident in the extensive range of programs we support.

1. FIRST E&P Scholarship Programs

29 scholarship beneficiaries from indigent families in our host community are currently under the NNPC Ltd/FIRST E&P JV ‘Best in Rural KEFFES Scholarship Scheme’ (BiRKE). Beyond the BiRKE program, FIRST E&P also provides an additional 30 scholarships through the Inspire Scholarship program by The Special Foundation.

2. Teacher Training Program

50 teachers from our host communities were sponsored to partake in a training at the University of Lagos to improve their quality of curriculum delivery.

3. Teacher Engagement Initiative

In 2020, as part of the GMoU program, community led Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) - the KEFFES Rural Development Foundation (KRDF) employed 72 teachers in our host communities, helping to improve the teachers-to-student ratio from 1:10 to 1:5.

4. Provision of Education Enhancement Technology

100 units of solar powered K-YAN devices were provided to 30 Secondary Schools and Technical Colleges in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Akwa-Ibom states in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). The K-YAN devices are integrated multimedia devices used to enhance the educational experience in classrooms. Each unit includes an interactive Teaching & Learning Platform that incorporates the utility of a fully functional computer, high luminosity projection system, large screen television, DVD player, in-built audio system and an internet browser integrated into a single compact unit. teachers-to-student ratio from 1:10 to 1:5.

5. School Refurbishment Projects

The NNPC Ltd/FIRST E&P JV carried out comprehensive refurbishment of Government Day Secondary School, and Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School, both in Azare LGA, Bauchi State. For each school, the comprehensive work done covered the following areas:

1. Government Day Secondary School (GDSS):

  • Renovation and furnishing of six (6) blocks consisting of seventeen (17) classrooms.
  • Renovation, furnishing and equipping of the three basic science laboratories – Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Renovation and furnishing of Agric Science.
  • Renovation and furnishing of Home Management laboratories.
  • Refurbishing and furnishing the School Administrative Building.
  • Furnishing and equipping of the ICT laboratory with 20 workstations, One three-in-one printer, a laptop, and a projector plus the drop-down screen.
  • Provision of Solar Power to the ICT laboratory.
  • Provision of solar powered borehole. Provision of toilets for males and females.
  • The toilets are reticulated with water and water closet appliances.
  • Upgrade of the Administrative building with concrete walkway round the building.

2. Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School (GCDSS):

  • Renovation and furnishing of nine (9) blocks consisting of eighteen (18) classrooms.
  • Renovation, furnishing and equipping of the three basic science laboratories – Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Refurbishing and furnishing of the School Administrative Building.
  • Provision of solar powered water borehole.
  • Provision of toilets for males and females. The toilets are reticulated with water and water closet appliances.
