We are committed to creating a better, sustainable future for all, with a special focus on people in the communities where we operate.  Our 11 host communities include Koluama 1, Koluama 2, Ezetu 1, Ezetu 2, Foropa, Fishtown, Ekeni, Sangana, Oginibiri, Okumbiribeleu & Okunmbiri (jointly referred to KEFFESO) in Southern Ijaw and Brass LGA.

Our Intervention Focus Areas

Improving Lives through Health Programs

Projects Implemented:

  • Over 5,600 people provided with free healthcare and checks in 2 Health Outreach Programs in Bayelsa communities.
  • 18 Community Health Workers engaged to improve health care delivery in our host communities through the GMoU program.
  • $250,000 worth of COVID-19 Vaccines donated in Nigeria at the peak of the pandemic.
  • > 24,000 Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) from 48 IDP camps provided humanitarian aid and relief materials following the 2022 Bayelsa floods.
  • 5 NGOs provided with grants to programs improving healthcare access, education, poverty alleviation, empowerment initiatives for disadvantaged groups.

Educational Programmes for Brighter Futures

Projects Implemented:

  • 60 scholarship beneficiaries currently under the NNPC Ltd/FIRST E&P JV ‘Best in Rural KEFFES Scholarship Scheme’ (BiRKE) and through the Inspire Scholarship program by The Special Foundation.
  • 50 teachers from our host communities trained at the University of Lagos to improve their quality of curriculum delivery.
  • 72 teachers employed in our host communities, improving teachers-to-student ratio from 1:10 to 1:5 as part of the GMoU program.
  • 100 units of solar powered K-YAN Devices (integrated multimedia devices used to enhance the educational experience in classrooms) provided to 30 Secondary Schools and Technical Colleges in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Akwa-Ibom states in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
  • 2 Primary/Secondary schools renovated by the JV in Bauchi State to improve learning conditions for indigent children.

Enterprise Development and Job Creation

  • 322 youths trained in employability skills for engagement across various industries.  
  • Twenty (20) youth were trained in wielding, toward certifications by the International Institute of Welding (IIW) and the National Skills Qualification (NSQ).
  • >52 Bayelsa state indigenes employed during the Anyala First oil campaign.
  • Currently, 23 employees on our FPSO are from our host communities.

Provision of Infrastructure and Utilities

FIRST E&P is makes a sustainable positive impact on rural community life by addressing fundamental needs and fostering long-term development. Essential amenities such as clean water, reliable electricity, and well-maintained roads significantly enhance the quality of life, reducing health risks and improving access to education and economic opportunities. These infrastructure improvements enable local businesses to thrive, facilitate better healthcare delivery, and ensure children can attend school consistently.
