Provision of Infrastructure and Utilities

FIRST E&P is making a sustainable positive impact on rural community life by addressing fundamental needs and fostering long-term development. Essential amenities such as clean water, reliable electricity, and well-maintained roads significantly enhance the quality of life, reducing health risks and improving access to education and economic opportunities. These infrastructure improvements enable local businesses to thrive, facilitate better healthcare delivery, and ensure children can attend school consistently.

Through our interventions, our communities are being supported to become more resilient and self-sufficient, leading to a cycle of growth and development that benefits current and future generations. Some of these programs implemented include:

1. Provision of Solar Powered Boreholes

In line with our commitment to the well-being of our communities, which also aligns with the United Nations’ SDG 6 that speaks to ‘Ensuring access to water and sanitation for all’, the NNPC Ltd/FIRST E&P Joint venture has provided 4 solar powered reverse-osmosis treated boreholes in our host communities. Today, these boreholes deliver potable drinking water to over 2,000 people daily. The one-of-a-kind boreholes are hybrid-powered (solar and generator), reverse-osmosis-treated and are considered a novel approach to the provision of potable drinking water in Africa.

2. Power and Road Infrastructure Projects

The KEFFESO Rural Development Fund (KRDF) under the GMoU program, installed electricity lines traversing over 1.2km installed in our host communities. The fund also constructed well-lit roads constructed in Sangana, Foropa and Fishtown.
