FIRST E&P Drilling Campaign Ranks In Top Quartile Performance For Nigeria Shallow Offshore Space

The Anyala field, operated by FIRST E&P and located in OML-83 shallow offshore, Nigeria Delta in Nigeria OML-83, recorded a groundbreaking drilling performance, demonstrating exceptional efficiency with Zero LTI. Utilizing the Borr Drilling’s Natt jack-up rig, operations commenced on April 17th, 2019, with the spudding of the Anyala-11 appraisal well, marking a significant milestone for the company. The appraisal well was successfully concluded on August 8th, 2019.

Development well drilling commenced on October 9th, 2019, with the spudding of the Anyala 12 well. The campaign progressed steadily, with continuous improvement in well delivery efficiency. By early 2021, drilling in the Anyala West field successfully reached completion.

Committed to continuous improvement, FIRST E&P undertook a comprehensive After Action Review (AAR) following the Anyala campaign. Valuable learnings were distilled and incorporated into the subsequent Madu campaign. Subsequently, an external benchmarking exercise was conducted by industry leader Rushmore, comparing the Anyala campaign’s performance with the wider Nigeria Shallow offshore region. The results were impressive, placing FIRST E&P’s Anyala drilling campaign firmly as the ‘overall best performer’ among the benchmarked participants, including the IOCs.

This achievement underscores FIRST E&P’s commitment to operational excellence and reinforces our commitment to being a leading player in the Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

  • Rushmore participants for the Nigeria Shallow Offshore region comprised major IOCs and FIRST E&P.
  • FIRST E&P benchmarked all Anyala wells (8 total) against 52 other wells drilled by the participants in the Nigerian shallow offshore region between 2018-2020 (exploration, appraisal, and development).
  • The Charts reflect FIRST E&P as the best performer based on average dry hole cost per foot for the entire wells set.
  • Notably, 3 out of 8 FIRST E&P wells achieved “Top Quartile” drilling performance, showcasing impressive efficiency.
  • Among all 52 benchmarked wells, FIRST E&P best-performing well secured the #2 position based on the “dry hole cost per foot” metric, indicating exceptional cost-effectiveness.
  • Based on available information, FIRST E&P appears to be the only Nigerian indigenous operator participating in Rushmore’s benchmarking program, demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement and industry best practices.
